habit (daily routine/ritual, an everyday task that is repeated)

the beam of a streetlight in a town fuelled by burning garbage.

My mom made it known that giving birth to me destroyed her bladder, her stone never needed to be squeezed. She was urinary incontinent, often leaking wherever she was. Growing up, in the middle of an errand, she would pull me and my sister into concrete stairways in parking structures, and a stream of pee running past the black rayon dresses she habitually wore to cover the urine stains. It would splatter loudly and flow down the concrete steps. When I smell piss in public places, I know someones mother has been there’ – excerpt from exhibition handout written collabortively by the contributing artists
